MINOT, N.D. – Minot State University starts recycling program – 🙂

MINOT, N.D. – Minot State University students are encouraging their peers to recycle, turning what started as a marketing assignment into a worthy cause.

Four marketing students hosted the university’s first recycling drive.

Collecting everything from newspaper to plastic bottles, the group even used recycled bins to gather donated reusable materials.

Nearly 50 students stopped by the drive with their recyclables.
Organizers say they hope this will raise awareness about the importance of the three Rs: reduce, reuse, recycle.

“In Minot, as a whole, there is not a lot of recycling, there’s not a lot of recycling options, and also not a big incentive to recycle. So, what we’re trying to do with this drive is to get the word out there and get it so that people will start recycling more,” said Alex Osvold, MSU junior.

The team says they intend to take all of the recycled materials to Kalix and that they hope to do this drive next semester.
